Sweating for my sanity

I workout for my mind. What it does for my body is an awesome consequnce. Sometimes life with small children gets overwhelming and I feel like I'm going to crack. Exercise and being active helps me to cope.
For me, motherhood is a dance where I feel like I’m being pulled in a million different directions, whilst walking on a tightrope, blindfolded. I have to keep everything in balance without falling off or totally losing my shit.
I'm expected to give all of myself, even when I haven't got anything left. I love my kids but I often have days when I feel tired, bored and unengaged.
I've always been into fitness and with two small kids, I need it more than ever. Some days, 90 minutes in the gym is the only time I get without the company of a small child. It's also very social, which helps with the feelings of isolation that go hand in hand with being a stay at home mum. There are days when the only other adult I speak to is the person at the till in Sainsbury's. No lie.
Regular exercise means I get to hang out with an amazing group of likeminded women who understand. After a bad night there's nothing more therapeutic than being able to commiserate with a friend. When I'm in Yoga, Zumba or Spinning I get to go on a personal journey to sweat off the bad vibes I'm holding on to.

I get a massive energy boost after working out - the endorphin rush is real! I feel happier, more positive and I take things a little less seriously. My sense of humor comes back. It honestly keeps me from falling off the edge.
Elle Woods was right, 'Exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy.' Obviously the next part of the quote is '...and happy people don't kill their husbands.'
Based on the fact that Mr. F is still alive and kicking, despite the tension and conflict that naturally occurs in a relationship when you have small kids, I have to agree.
