Easy peasy florals

Anthropologie make these giant monogrammed mugs and I'm obsessed with them. I've seen them used as table decor at weddings and then I thought, this would make a really sweet Mother's Day gift for...ME!

So I grabbed the Crew and headed over to the Flower Pot by Elaine, a gorgeous little flower shop in the Sutton Green Garden Centre, to get some top tips on how to make this easy peasy floral arragement.

I cannot stress enough just how easy it is to make this. The key to it all is oasis. It'll keep the flowers in place, making it easier to create a shape/look that you're happy with. Cut the oasis so that it fits snuggly in the mug. Then fill with water.

Next, get some folliage and some flowers and you're ready to have some fun! Floral arranging is surprisingly relaxing. Not a bad way to spend the day, that's for sure.

When I asked Elaine how she became a florist she said, "I was trying to think of a way to convince my dad that I didn't need to go to college. I drove by a flower shop, thought 'Hey, people make things with flowers, it's a job I could do,' and told my dad I was going to be a florist." Can't argue with that.

According to Elaine there are 'rules' for floral arranging. Lucky for us, she doesn't follow the rules and we were free to pick from all the gorgous flowers she stocks. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you're like me), the shop is full of all kinds of gorgeous antiques and so we got a bit distracted.

Ta-dah! Cute, right?! If you fancy making one of these yourself, join us in-store at Anthropologie in Guildford on 5th March. Stop by anytime between 12-4pm. Little ones are welcome to come along too! We'll be helping them make Mother's Day gifts that are sure to melt your heart.

Tickets £10, reedemable against purchases of £20 or more. Limited spaces so book now!
